The Definition of SMEs Updated: More Businesses Will Be Able to Benefit from Public Support
The regulation amendment regarding the update has been published in the Official Gazette.
With this change, the annual net sales revenue and financial balance sheet values of enterprises have been redefined, taking into account current economic conditions. As a result, more businesses will now be able to benefit from KOSGEB supports.
The new classification is as follows:
Micro enterprises:
Enterprises with fewer than 10 employees and an annual net sales revenue or financial balance sheet not exceeding 10 million TL.
Small enterprises:
Enterprises with fewer than 50 employees and an annual net sales revenue or financial balance sheet not exceeding 100 million TL.
Medium-sized enterprises:
Enterprises with fewer than 250 employees and an annual net sales revenue or financial balance sheet not exceeding 1 billion TL.
Under the new regulation, the upper limit for net sales revenue or financial balance sheet in the SME definition has been increased from 500 million TL to 1 billion TL.
With this update, carried out by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, enterprises with higher turnover, balance sheet value, and employment capacity have also been included in the SME definition. This has expanded the scope of public supports, creating a more inclusive and up-to-date structure.
